The invasion of Poland took place at the beginning of world war 2. At 4:30 in the morning on September 1, 1939, Adolf Hitler sent his air forces to bomb air fields in Poland. The Germans also opened fire at the polish port where they claimed they were "visiting" the port. The polish was outgunned and out numbered by the the Germans and the town of Modlin surrendered the next day. After the invasion the Poland allies France and Germany declared war on The US.
D-Day Normandy June 6, 1944
The invasion of Normandy, also known as D-Day occurred on June 6, 1944. D-Day was the opening of the second front in France, with an assault across the English Channel. It was one of the largest warfare attempts in history. When the campaign ended on September 1, 1944, Paris, along with most of France had been liberated. The Germans lost some 700,000 men, and the western allies were poised for the assault on Germany. This brought a great victory for the grand alliance in World War II European theater.
Battle of Bulge December 16, 1944
The Germans launched the last major of fence of the war. The battle of Bulge was an attempt to push all the allies west from northern France to northwestern Belgium. The battle of bulge got its name because the Germans created a "bulge" along the area of the Ardennes forest.

On May 8, 1945 both great Britain and the United States celebrate the victory in Europe, the defeat of the nazi's war machine. The day may 8th is the day when German troops all over Europe surrendered. After loosing many soldiers.
